The jump from GCSE feels substantial

We revisit the ideas that later chemistry depends on and make links between representations, equations and observations.

Calculations work until the question changes

We focus on choosing relationships, tracking units and using balanced equations, rather than memorising one sequence for every problem.

Knowledge is there, but answers lack precision

We practise selecting the chemical reasoning a question needs and explaining it clearly.

What we work on

Support with a clear purpose.

Share the awarding body, qualification and current year of study. Topic order and assessment requirements vary. We confirm the appropriate subject specialist and syllabus before agreeing a plan; school practical requirements remain with the school or examination centre.

How lessons work

Physical chemistry

Amount of substance, bonding, energetics, equilibria and related calculations, according to the specification.

Organic chemistry

Structure, reactions and mechanisms, with practice explaining changes rather than simply recalling a diagram.

Inorganic chemistry

Patterns, observations and explanations, linked to the underlying chemical ideas.

Practical reasoning

Interpreting methods and data, considering uncertainty and connecting observations to conclusions.

An example of the approach

Keep the units attached

For a solution, amount in moles = concentration in mol dm⁻³ × volume in dm³. Converting 25.0 cm³ to 0.0250 dm³ before substituting is part of the reasoning, not an optional final step.

Personal, considered support

A match you can discuss.

We consider the course, the student’s starting point and how they learn before confirming a suitable tutor.

Clear arrangements before lessons

Your written quotation explains the agreed tuition. We discuss lesson timing and the support needed before you commit.

Teaching with care

Our safeguarding policy requires enhanced DBS checks, identity checks and references before tutors teach.

Your questions

Your A-Level chemistry questions.

Straightforward answers, before you take the next step.

Can I get help with chemistry calculations?

Yes. We can discuss the relationships, units, equation ratios and mathematical steps that need attention, alongside their chemical meaning.

Can lessons support the transition into Year 12?

We can discuss the foundations and current topics that would make the step up clearer, subject to an appropriate tutor match.

Does tutoring replace the practical endorsement?

No. Practical assessment and any endorsement requirements must be arranged through the student’s school or examination centre.
