New routines and expectations can make familiar work feel different. We start with what the student understands and where they need reassurance.
Fractions, number fluency and proportion appear across topics. We revisit missing ideas and practise using them in different situations.
The aim is to help the student begin, explain a method and check an answer with growing independence.
What we work on
Schools organise KS3 topics differently. A recent exercise book, topic list or teacher comment is more useful than assuming a fixed national teaching order. We discuss what is being taught now and what would help next.
Positive and negative numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages, with explanations that connect the methods.
Expressions, equations and patterns, linking symbols to meaning.
Measures, geometry and ratio, using diagrams and carefully chosen examples.
Showing working, asking useful questions, checking answers and practising independently.
An example of the approach
Ask which is larger: three quarters or two thirds. Drawing equal-sized bars can make the comparison visible before using a common denominator. Then connect the picture to 9/12 and 8/12.
Personal, considered support
We consider the course, the student’s starting point and how they learn before confirming a suitable tutor.
Your written quotation explains the agreed tuition. We discuss lesson timing and the support needed before you commit.
Our safeguarding policy requires enhanced DBS checks, identity checks and references before tutors teach.

No. The priority may be understanding classroom topics, strengthening foundations or feeling more comfortable asking questions. We discuss an appropriate plan.
We can discuss deeper reasoning and suitable challenge as well as consolidation. The work should fit the student’s current understanding and school course.
We consider what the student can explain and attempt independently, alongside their schoolwork and feedback. Progress is discussed in relation to their own starting point.
